Dayna Rachkowski (She/Her) is a PhD student in the Institute of Resources, Environment, and Sustainability (IRES) at the University of British Columbia. Her current research is a part of a 6 year project entitled ‘Transforming Chemical Risk Management with Indigenous Expertise’ and intends to produce educational materials for current and future chemical risk professionals to strengthen their ability to contribute to the decolonization of chemicals management. 

Dayna had previously completed her MA within the IRES program, producing her thesis: “Strengthening Environmental Protection for a Healthier Canada Act: The Right to a Healthy Environment & Accountability in Chemicals Management.” Both her masters and current PhD are under the supervision of Dr. Gunilla Öberg, and Dr. Susan Chiblow. 

Outside of her research, Dayna is one of IRES’ seminar coordinators, a climate teacher connector for the UBC Sustainability Hub, and a contrast guide in Vancouver’s wellness scene.
